Welcome to Fungi Felts. I’m Allison (she/her), and I’m the artist that felts all those frogs and mushrooms!

I’ve been a needle felting artist for over 5 years, and have been selling my work since 2022. It all started when I got a beginning needle felting kit as a christmas gift - I made my first little felted friend (a snowman) and have never stopped. I love sharing my art, and the art of needle felting, with others.

I’m constantly inspired by nature, and my favorite subjects are frogs and mushrooms, two things I’ve loved since I was a kid hunting morels with my dad and catching toads in my backyard. I particularly enjoy thinking about the whimsical, magical lives that the smallest of creatures might lead when we’re not looking.

Hey There!

I’ve been doing some shape or form of art all my life. In college, I studied theatre. In fourth grade, I made miniature food out of sculpey clay, set up a tiny booth at the end of my driveway, and tried to sell my creations to the neighborhood. I lived at the end of a cul-de-sac, so needless to say, my only customers were my parents.

Today, one of my favorite parts of being an artist in Chicago is our amazing art shows and craft fairs. I’ve sold my felt frogs all around the city at fairs including Renegade Craft, Bucktown Arts Fest, Southport Arts Fest, Chicago Artisan Market, and more. You can always shop my work in person at the Andersonville Galleria. Much better than a cul-de-sac!

I live in Portage Park with my wife, two cats, and one little dog. When I’m not needle felting, I’m an actor and teaching artist, and I love to go hiking and camping, play cozy games on my Switch, read, cook, and garden. I’m always ready to nerd out about Star Trek, The Lord or the Rings, or Shakespeare.
